* reflux in the deep venous system (postthrombotic syndrome)
* acute thrombosis
* hypercoagulability
* allergy to aethoxysclerol or local anesthetics
* immobility
* open foramen ovale
* bacterial infection of the skin
* pregnancy and breast feeding
* peripheral arterial occlusive disease III, IV (PAOD)
