Detailed Description
Dive into the extended narrative that explains the scientific background, objectives, and procedures in greater depth.
Participants will select a hypothetical lunch from a menu that features entrees, sides, and drinks. Participants will be able to select a maximum of 1 item from each category. Following this meal selection, participants will complete a short survey about their demographics, their estimates of information about the meal and about recommended eating habits.

Study Groups
Review each arm or cohort in the study, along with the interventions and objectives associated with them.
Control 1
Participants in this group will see a menu labeled with prices, but will not observe calorie information. Used as a comparator for numeric labeling conditions.
No interventions assigned to this group
Numeric individual
Features Item-Level Calorie information. Numeric calorie labels will be featured on individual items, along with prices.
Item-Level Calorie information
Information identifying the calorie content of individual items will be provided, as would be done on a restaurant menu board.
Numeric individual + aggregate
Features Item-Level Calorie information and Meal-Level Calorie information. Numeric calorie labels will be featured on individual items, along with prices. Additionally, an aggregated numeric calorie count for the entire meal will be dynamically updated as items are added or removed from the meal.
Item-Level Calorie information
Information identifying the calorie content of individual items will be provided, as would be done on a restaurant menu board.
Meal-Level Calorie information
Information from the calorie content of individual items that have been selected by the participant will be dynamically aggregated and presented as a "Total Calories" label on the menu screen.
Control 2
Participants in this group will see a menu labeled with prices, but will not observe calorie information. Used as a comparator for light labeling conditions.
No interventions assigned to this group
Light individual
Features Item-Level Calorie information. Traffic light calorie labels will be featured on individual items, along with prices.
