Inclusion Criteria

* patients scheduled for routine coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, single procedure only

Exclusion Criteria

* no sinus or pacemaker rhythm
* ejection fraction below 0.5
* serious valvular disease
* right ventricular failure
* pulmonary hypertension
* serious postoperative bleeding
