Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

* adult cardiac arrest patient with arterial pH \<7.1 or bicarbonate \<10mmEq/L checked at 10 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Exclusion Criteria

* age \<18 trauma patient Do Not Resuscitate state
