Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

* Admission to the Department of Nephrology, Aalborg Hospital
* Elevated serum creatinine
* Proteinuria
* Informed and written consent

Control subjects:

* Normal serum creatinine and creatinine clearance
* No proteinuria

Exclusion Criteria

* Vitamin supplementation (exceeding predefined values)
* Renal replacement therapy (dialysis)
