* diabetes mellitus (or impaired glucose tolerance as determined by a standard 75 gr oral glucose tolerance test)
* past history of cardiovascular diseases
* past history of gastro-intestinal diseases
* significant liver or renal dysfunction (hypothalamic, pituitary, thiroidal or adrenal);
* neoplasms.
