* planned for elective surgery
* at least one hand-sutured ileo-colonic or colo-colonic anastomosis
Exclusion Criteria
* missing written consent of the informed patient
* no existing choice between suture-techniques according to the surgeon
* patient not able to cooperate/non-compliance
* rectal anastomoses
