* Moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
* Individuals genetically predisposed to affective disorder
* Healthy gender and age matched controls

Exclusion Criteria

* Contraindications to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
* Use of psychoactive drugs
* Past or present affective disorder
* Other systemic diseases that may affect brain function
